2012 Babies

Like as "Time and tide stay for no man"
This year has past very quickly again and today (12/28) is the last day of 2012 for Sun-Tec working day.
We will soon start "Mochi-tsuki" as an annual event.
We all appreciated all support we have from our customers who using our machines, business partners and their families for 2012.Thank you very much.


By the way, we have some happy news for this year that 7 babies has been born in our employees family in 2012.This is very good as we have only less 100 employees (include related companies).
" Falling birthrate" is a serious issue in Japan as well as other countries and we have many babies !
It is very happy and dependable news for us.


So....let us introduce the new babies!

Happy Holiday Seasons!

It has been December already !
In Japan, we have another name for December  as "師走”　（Shiwasu).
The origin of this word has been not exactly known but some time we understand  it as "It is very busy even teachers would run ! ".

Japanese biggest holidays are New year (12/31(New year's eve) -1/3).
Everybody run to close own project(s) by the end of this month and try to have happy new year.

By the way, our web site has been renewed!
Most biggest changes were that we used screen widely than before.
And put more photographs and add company's policies and mottoes.

Our policies and mottoes might be Japanese way to describing so sometime it would difficult to understand for foreign people but we hope you see our spirits even a little :-)

Welcome to Osaka

Our head quarter is located in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture in Japan.
Maybe you are not familiar with Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture yet it is located right next to the city of Osaka. (Osaka city is in Osaka Prefecture)

You can come to our office just 15mins with local train from Osaka station (Biggest Sta in Osaka)
So when we have a guest who is coming from far, we sometime take them to Osaka area for a short sightseeing.

The other day, we have a guest who is from the country of 1.2 billion populations.
And it was their first visit to Japan. They arrived at Kansai Airport on Sunday so we had time for a little fun.

We took them a  famous area in Osaka where called “Minami" (around Namba and Shinsaibashi stations)

This area is always very crowded with many people included tourists, so I personally not visit often.
Yet, when I saw this picture we took, I found it is very interesting! (I was proud of Osaka a little ;-)

If you have chance to visit Sun-Tec or Osaka, please visit this area with eating 551 (famous steamed pork buns in Osaka. You cannot find their shop anywhere except Kansai area) I hope you could enjoy the sightseeing in Osaka a little bit.

BBQ parties

Hello.

We had a very hot summer here in Japan... Especially, we, all nation have been trying to saving power usage after the earth quake in north-east Japan in March of 2011.

It was hard to try sometimes (too hot to keep low the air conditioner etc..) however sun-tec achieve 22% of power usage cut compare than 2011.

Of course we also have fun activities too!
 To encourage to get over the hot summer, we had BBQ parties at the Head quarter and the Sendai factory.

Sun-Tec in Display Taiwan 2012

Sun-Tec exhibited at "Display Taiwan 2012" in Taipei, Taiwan from June 19th to 21st. Even though we have sold many machines to companies in Taiwan, this is our first time to be an exhibitor at the show in Taiwan.

A typhoon passed through Taiwan at that time, but fortunately the traffic was normal in Taipei and many visitors visited our booth. We had the opportunity to show our equipment and were able to have meetings.
There are many manufacturing facilities for large size flat panels in Taiwan. Most visitors were from Taiwan.


This time, Sun-Tec displayed the following machines with various panels.

Film + Glass or Glass + OCA + Glass lamination is possible in the atmosphere.

Film is automatically loaded and laminated to the manually loaded glass with the cover film peeling simultaneously

SID 2012 in Boston

SID (Society Information Display) Exhibition started from June 5th for three days at Boston Convention Center.




It’s been a while since the show is held in Boston. Because of the location, it seems to be more visitors from Europe. There are many exhibitors and visitors from Asia including Japan. From the first day of the show, some customers brought their samples to test our equipment, or requested to test the equipment after the show. It is a great way of starting the show. They already announced the location of the show next year, and we’ve booked our booth space. The show next year will be held in Vancouver, Canada.


It is very early to think about next year, so we would rather look forward to seeing you in the next two days at this year’s show in Boston.

I am a traveler

I have been wondering if I should buy this or not, but finally on the last business trip, I bought it.
It's a Traveler's Notebook!





This notebook is to track the memory of the trip. Business trips used to be depressing (?) but with this notebook, it turned to be fun like being on a vacation! (not proper!?)
Thanks to this notebook, I feel like I could gain deeper sensitivity and wider view!




I am now looking forward to this notebook being thicker. (^^)v

New factory has been opened ! (Sendai 2nd factory)

We have opened new factory in Satsumasendai, Kagoshima Japan.
We have been operating one factory over 20years in Satusmasendai city and we built another one near there.
We use the facility for making big machines.

We are thanksful for all people who helped us to built this factory.

New year message from our president

Hope you all have a good start of 2012.
We choose one character every new year as a company motto and we chose 「利」 (Longheaded, profit and usability) this year.
Any work must be connected with 「利」 (profit). If not, something important is ignored or forgotten.
If we can act thinking about other people's 「利」 (profit), it comes back to you. Do not slip into self-complacency and work thinking about customers and others. This is not easy to do, however, it will be helpful in the future.
There are some important points in everything.
By grasping the points, huge mistakes and losses can be reduced. This will connect with 「利」 (profit) and communications naturally leads to 「利」 (profit).

My first blog

This is my first time to write an article for the blog.
This is H.Y. from Sendai Factory, new employee.
I would like to write about my hobby. I have been into making plastic models for years.
As I get older, I have more opportunities to make transformable battle planes that are made based on the image of actual and imaginary person, instead of completely imaginary person. That means my taste is changing gradually.
After I started my career, I cannot spend as much time as I used to for making models, however, I would like to keep this hoppy because it is such a joy to complete a project.
It is hard to explain in words what I make, so here are the pictures of the models.

Efforts by our Design group

We would like to introduce the efforts by our Design group.

Our Design group holds a meeting monthly to exchange information.

Usually a designer is assigned to a project and they rarely have a chance or time to exchange the information during their routine job. By having a meeting every month, they can see differences of design methods of designers and improve the efficiency of their work.

One of the main purposes of this meeting is "Cost Reduction." Based on the information such as improvements and problems from their routine job, they make efforts to select the best design method and unify the design rule, considering the machine performance, cost, lead time, etc.

Designers tend to have their own habit, and work out the way they are used to. Without realizing, with accumulation of those minor design methods, it could be a huge waste at the end. By avoiding the waste, we believe that we can reach the lead time and cost reduction.

How can we satisfy customers' demand and reduce the cost at the same time? It sounds conflicting, however, it is our eternal goal as a manufacturer.

We continue to challenge ourselves to meet this goal!

Visitors of my home

Since last year, we have visitors at our house without permission. I am not sure if they are the same ones or not, but we have them this year again.
It is said that houses with swallows' nests are safe and therefore should not be removed. So we left the nest from last year as is, and they had babies in the nest and raise them in the nest this year again.

When parents bring back food to their nest, babies excitingly open their mouths very big and almost fall down from the nest. When I go close to the nest, the parents try to threaten me to protect babies. I felt that swallows and human are the same in the aspect of raising babies with their heart and soul.

I am going to watch the babies until they grow and leave the nest. I hope they come back here again, babies become parents, and raise babies next year.

One complaint... I wish they clean their droppings...

P-Taro's Room - How to release stress -

Hello! This is P-Taro.

Do you have a way to release stress?
I am going to introduce the way I release my stress.

1. Listening to music


First of all, make an environment to listen to music. At night, turn off
the light in the room and shut down the information from eyes so that you
can concentrate to the sound of the music (I think). It is a fact that the
music sounds better in the dark than in the light.
This is my favorite recently.

"Rain Man's Story" By Yoshichika Tarue
He is not famous, but he is a good pianist. The music is like a movie sound
truck and it has a really good atmosphere.

When you listen to music, don't half-listen as a background music. You have
to be in the musical word and forget about your daily life. If you pay
attention, you can hear phrases and instruments in the background which you
don't notice usually, and it is quite amusing.

2. Play an instrument

This is it!
Recently I have new friends.



1959 Reissue, Les Paul by Gibson, Historic collection.
Also Fender Blues Jr., Tube amp, on the right.

This is a reissue version of 1959 Les Paul. The price of the original
vintage costs 20,000,000 to 30,000,000 yen. Even though this is Reissue,
playing this guitar makes me so happy. No, just looking makes me feel
excited.

I want to remind you that I did not decide to buy this guitar by the
influence of "KEION!" (Japanese TV animation).

Now about the amp...
I heard that the tube amp makes clear your guitar touch so I changed my amp to a tube amp from a transistor amp.

My impression to the sound is...

'"Great acoustic pressure!!"
Maybe the amp that I had was too cheap?

3. Ride a motorcycle

Riding a motorcycle is different from driving a car. You can smell trees
and greens and feel the freedom.
The throb from the engine, speeding... it is great!
Because it is the rainy season now, I cannot enjoy the cruise as much as I
want. I hope to say good-bye to the rainy season soon and say hello to
summer, no... to autumn!

Everybody, let's release stress!

Our Pet Goldfish - Part 2

This is the picture that I shared in my previous blog. Yes, our pet goldfish sleeps like it is dead. When we first saw this, we were so surprised!

This time, it was sleeping on its back!!
Here is the picture that we took.

I don't know why it is sleeping like this.
It is really strange!!

We noticed that other goldfish sleep in a strange way.


Our black pop-eyed goldfish was sleeping upright.

We could not believe it!






Now we are looking forward to finding more interesting ways that the goldfish are sleeping.

SID 2011 has opened !

This year the Society Information Display (SID) Exhibition is held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from May 17th to May 19th.



On May 15th, our staff from Arizona and Japan arrived in LA, and we have been setting up our booth for the show. Many exhibitors that we know from the past and our customers stopped by our booth while we were getting ready to say “Have a good show!”

This year, for the first time, we will demonstrate TMS-SA-P1 which can laminate Rigid to Rigid products. For the next 3 days our real fight to win business begins. We already have scheduled many demonstrations and meetings with customers from all over the world and we are excited about it.





Our booth number is 735.

We are looking forward to many people visiting us.
