Head of Mt.Fuji from Mt.Aka peek

In the last 7~8 years, I have climbed over 2,000m mountain once a year.
In this year, I went to Mt.Aka (Yatsugatake) 2899m.

I did not record clearly yet I am remembering where I climbed...
2012 Mt. Haku (Ishikawa prf) 2,702m
2011 Maybe.. I didn't
2010 Mt. Fuji 3,776m
2009 Mt. Senjo 3,032m & Mt.Kaikoma 2,967m
2008 Mt. Kisokoma 2,956m ( used ropeway car)
2007 Mt. Shirouma 2,932m & Mt. Norikura 3,026m

I think I did few more..
I always feel very tired to walk and regret when started walk.
And It is getting better after 2 hours..(and you did not want to go back anyway to the route you came)
And then when you reach the peek ..You see the different world...you have cloud see under your feet and there is a long ridge line....
And I love making coffee with seeing such view!!

I appreciate my friends who taking me there and glad we climbed down safely again.

Making History in Vancouver (SID 2013)

Vancouver is a coastal seaport city on the mainland of British Columbia, Canada. There are over 2.3 million residents there making it the third most populated metropolitan area in the country and the largest metropolitan area in Western Canada. It is best known for its beautiful natural scenic locations, unlimited outdoor ocean and forest activities, fantastic culinary excellence, and of course their beloved Vancouver Canucks professional hockey team! Each year over a million people pass through Vancouver on cruise ship vacations, often headed North for Alaska.

Vancouver has very diverse cultural roots and a long history dating back to 1792 when explorer George Vancouver, for whom the city is named, passes through the inner harbor of Burrard Inlet and gave various landmarks British names. Over the years Vancouver has played a significant historical role in the “Fraser Gold Rush” of 1858 and the “Klondike Gold Rush” in 1898. But did you know that last month Vancouver once again played a part in a third historical search for Gold?

The Society for Information Displays (SID) made history last month when it held the “Display Week 2013 Show” in Vancouver Canada! That’s right. This was the first SID show held outside of the United States, and many attendees were looking to “strike Gold” at the show as they walked through the exhibition hall checking out latest in display products and technologies!

Sun-Tec was among those companies exhibiting at “Display Week 2013”, and making history. Our focus was on our lamination equipment which is compatible with touch screen display manufacturing. We had the TMS-22S-TS and the APF-07S-TS on display in our booth as our demo equipment highlighting the ability to perform “glass-to-glass” lamination using our proprietary tail-stopper feature.

The show in Vancouver was a success for Sun-Tec based on the level of interest that we had in our booth for our equipment. Now comes the hard work of following up with each of those visitors. I learned long ago to treat every opportunity to talk with a customer face-to-face like it is a “piece of Gold”. Based on that thinking, we hit the “jack-pot” at the “Vancouver Gold Rush” of 2013!

The Magic Touch

Meet my niece Ami-chan. She lives in Hiroshima and she will be two years old in August. She is a happy little girl just learning to talk, and becoming more and more independent every day since she learned how to walk last year. She reminded me last month when I saw her that she is also a very special little girl. I discovered that Ami-chan has magic fingers! YES, the ones she is showing you in the photo. With her magic fingers she can do tricks like fully operate a touch screen display! It’s true I saw her do it on my tablet !

She swipes the screen to scroll through photos in the album. She taps the photo that she wants to see (usually of her!) to open it. She pinches and spreads her fingers to zoom in and out on photos. And I am willing to bet that the next time I see her she will be typing email with her magic fingers using the on screen key board!

OK I admit that Ami-chan doesn’t have magic fingers. But watching her last month reminded me that her generation was born with the “magic” of touch screen technology and mobile devices. She is so comfortable using a smart phone or a tablet that she doesn’t even think about what she is doing, she just does it. That’s exactly the way it should be…Easy to learn, and easy to use. Because the display technology has become so easy, more schools are using tablets and e-readers as teaching tools in the class room.

There is one more thing that Ami-chan reminded me about last month. Right now she is too young to know or care, but our Sun-Tec lamination equipment plays a very big role in helping to bring that touch screen display technology to millions of little kids just like her all around the world. Seeing the look on her face when she swipes the screen (with her magic fingers!) and finally finds a picture of her with “Grandpa” and “Grandma” makes me very happy and proud of what we do.

Sun-Tec America in Flex (Arizona Phoenix)

The 12th annual Flex Conference and Exhibition, sponsored by the FlexTech Alliance, started this week in Phoenix Arizona. This is the first year for Sun-Tec to participate at the show as an exhibitor, but I don't think it will be the last.

We featured the "Shuttle Table Type" laminator in our booth, and got a lot of attention from the conference attendees, as well as the local media.
We were interviewed by the local newspaper, "The Arizona Republic", and photos along with our quotes were used in the online version(azcentral.com) of the paper. There was also a local news crew from News 12 TV that filmed our equipment demo laminating a sheet of polarizer film onto a glass substrate. They were very happy to find a local company from Scottsdale at the show.

Go to Machine info

They best thing about the "2013 Flex" show is that we got to spend time with some of the customers that are using our equipment, and see the end products that they are making.
We met a CEO of a company who using our machine in their production. He did a presentation at the conference that included a video of our equipment in their production line! We were very proud of that.
Overall, Sun-Tec got a lot of "free publicity" from the show. It was a great opportunity for us to show our equipment, and what we can do.

As I said, this year may be our first year to attend, but it will not be our last.
